Dog & Cat – Puppy & Kitten
Vaccinations & Titre* Testing
Vaccinations help your pet fight off infectious and deadly diseases
Making sure your furry friend is up to date with their yearly vaccinations is one of the most important things you can do as a pet owner. At Love That Pet Gold Coast North, we also offer titre testing for the core vaccines in both dogs and cats. For canines, we can test the level of vaccination protection (or titre*) for canine distemper virus, canine hepatitis and canine parvovirus. In your feline pet we can perform the test to ensure adequate levels of antibodies for Feline Panleukopenia, Herpes and Calici virus. This ensure your pet is protected against these nasties while avoiding the issues caused by over vaccinating.
We stock a range of vaccines for cats, dogs and rabbits, including:
- Kennel cough
- Feline aids
- Cat flu
- Puppy vaccinations
- Kitten vaccinations
If you are planning to go on a holiday and need to board your cat or dog, make sure you don’t forget to get your pet vaccinated as pet boarding facilities require an up-to-date vaccination certificate.
When you take your pet in for their vaccination, we’ll also perform an annual health check to make sure your furry friend is feeling happy and healthy.
* Love That Pet Gold Coast North offers titre testing for core vaccines. Whether canine or feline, we can test the level of vaccination protection your pet has already to specific diseases and then tailor a specific level of vaccine to your pet. This ensures protection for your pet without over vaccinating.
Why vaccinate your Dog, Cat, Puppy or Kitten
The immune system of a dog or cat is designed to maintain healthy vitality by attacking and destroying viruses and bacteria. A strong immune system works partly by memory which is what makes vaccinations so effective. Once antibodies are created against a certain virus or bacteria, the immune system can and will fight it off effectively.
There are a couple of vaccine related myths that we will take a moment to correct. One is that pets can get sick with the actual disease as a result of being given the vaccine. This is simply not true. Dogs and cats are injected with a modified version of specific organisms or proteins that have been killed or separated, yet still cause an antibody build-up. Your pet may feel a few side effects from the vaccine such as soreness or sleepiness but should be fine within a few hours or days.
Another common myth is that once vaccinated, they’re good for life. This is simply not the case with all vaccines for several reasons. Since the bloodstream is constantly in process of regeneration, many of the antibodies are lost over time. The bloodstream must have a certain level of antibodies to work effectively against disease. Remembering to schedule annual vaccinations is one of the best things you can do as a pet parent to ensure a full healthy lifespan for your furry family member.

For dogs, we titre test the level of Canine Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus. For cats, the titre tested vaccines are Feline Panleukopenia, Herpes and Calci virus. These are considered core vaccinations because they protect against diseases that are known to affect dogs and cats throughout the world.
