Puppy School – Coming Soon!

Congratulations on your new puppy!

Puppy classes are a great way to ensure that your new furry family member grows up to become a well-behaved dog.  They are also a wonderful opportunity to begin the important bonding process with your pet. You should choose a puppy training program taught by a certified dog trainer to ensure success for your and your puppy. Our puppy school was created to make sure your new four-legged friend can adapt and be a happy and healthy dog.

Our Puppy School in Gold Coast North is a short course that teaches your puppy how to behave around other dogs and people. It runs for four weeks in a safe, pleasant environment designed to socialise your pup with people and other dogs of similar age. All family members are welcome to come along.

We will cover topics such as:

  • Positive reinforcement
  • Socialization
  • Toilet training
  • Walking on lead
  • Basic obedience
  • Chewing
  • Digging
  • Barking
  • Resource guarding
  • Grooming
  • Exercise
  • Playtime
  • The (not so!) secret language of dogs

Young puppies develop rapidly between 8 and 16 weeks of age. Their experiences during this critical period shape a lot of their future behaviours and temperament. If you want your dog to be a well adjusted and happy member of the family, it is important you get them enrolled in puppy classes as early as possible.

Why is it essential you attend a “safe” puppy school?

As with children, some puppies are more naturally outgoing than others. That’s why it is essential that shy puppies be given time to get to know the other dogs in the group.

Many puppy classes are conducted without due regard for individual needs. All of the puppies get let off leash to charge around at each other unrestrained. For bold outgoing puppies this is fine, but for shy puppies this is a disaster and can lead to fear aggression with other dogs later in life.

At Love That Pet Gold Coast North, we make sure we create a protective, nurturing environment. Instead of becoming more and more terrified, all puppies get time to develop their social skills and by the end of school are much, much more confident with other dogs.

Who is the trainer?

Liarne Henry, a certified dog-trainer, behaviour specialist and passionate dog lover. She has been training dogs in Australia, Europe and America for over 20 years and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).

Where and when?

Classes are held on Tuesday nights from 7–8pm. They are held at our Gold Coast North Vet Clinic & Wellness Campus, at 8/29 Blanck Street, Gold Coast North.
